Road Widening and Retrofitting Noise Barrier on Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section)
Temporary Road Closure and Construction Works During Chinese New Year (CNY) 2024

Date: 5 February 2024

To facilitate road reconstruction and noise barrier installation of this project, the following carriageway will be temporary closed from 11 February 5 a.m. (the 2nd day of CNY) till 14 February 2024 6 a.m. (the 5th day of CNY)

  • From 11 Feb 5 a.m. - Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section) Southbound Fast Lane between Fung Wo Estate and Fo Tan Road (See Figure 1); and
  • From 11 Feb 7 a.m.- Slip Road from Fo Tan Road (see Figure 1)
With consideration of heavy traffic flow at Tai Po Road, southbound fast lane would be closed during CNY holiday for the above-mentioned construction activities due to comparatively low traffic flow. During this period, site activities would be continued around the clock. To reduce noise nuisance to residents, the noise sensitive works such as breaking of road surface with deploy of machinery would be on 12 & 13 February from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. While, other less noise generated activities such as laying of bitumen pavement and loading and unloading of construction material would not be limited to day time. Since the temporary traffic arrangement would be implemented continuously over a few days, it will be carried out in one go without interruption be releasing the work front during peak hours. As such, it is anticipated that such an operation could reduce around 20 to 30 night works. We believe that this construction plan could reduce noise and traffic nuisance to residents.

Moreover, drainage reconstruction would be carried out on 12, 13 and 18 February 2024 at
  • Slow Lane of Slip Road leading from Tai Po Road northbound to Shatin Rural Committee Road (See Figure 2).
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and will strive for completion promptly. Wish You a Happy Lunar New Year!
